Who in their right mind doesn’t swoon at the pure thought of Mount Fuji? UNESCO didn’t name Mt. Fuji a World Heritage Site for being “meh.” It’s a soul-stirring, culture-defining icon, and it’s 100% worth seeing for yourself!
I learned the hard way that skimping on a hotel with a Mt. Fuji view is a crime against travel joy. On my first solo trip to Kawaguchiko, I stayed three nights at a budget-friendly chain hotel—cozy, clean, with free breakfast, but with a view of… a parking lot.

Every morning when the skies decided to clear up for a fleeting moment, I’d have to leave the hotel in a hurry and walk my way over to the shoreline of Lake Kawaguchi just to glimpse Fuji’s snow-capped peak, kicking myself for not booking a room where I could sip coffee with the mountain right there.
If you’re a one-and-done type of traveler and don’t plan on returning to the Lake Kawaguchi area after seeing it once (or even if you are), why settle for less? Trust me: waking up to Fuji framed by your window isn’t a splurge. It’s the point! Here’s where to do it right.

Fujikawaguchiko Onsen Konanso
Konansou is a traditional Japanese ryokan in the Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsen resort, offering breathtaking views of both Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. A double-whammy!
As a guest, you can unwind in the scenic public baths (Fuji views? Yes.), relax in private reservable onsen, or enjoy a soothing soak in your own outdoor bath if you happen to select one of the room types with an open-air bath.
Not all rooms have views of Fuji (some rooms face the lake), so take your pick: if you’re sticking to a budget, the lake-facing rooms are enough as there are Fuji views from a bunch of other areas of the hotel. If a bucketlist photo of you on a balcony with Fuji in the back is a must, then go on and splurge for a room that faces Mt. Fuji!
A stay here includes a beautifully prepared Japanese breakfast and dinner, though meal-free options are available too.
Oike Hotel
Oike Hotel, a traditional-style 4-star retreat, blends convenience with classic Japanese hospitality. Situated just 50 meters from Lake Kawaguchi and a 15-minute walk from Kawaguchiko Station, the hotel offers easy access to Fuji-Q Highland (a 10-minute drive for thrill-seekers) and cultural gems like the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum and Fujiyama Onsen Day Spa.
While a free shuttle service is available, the stroll to the station really isn’t too bad—especially with glimpses of Mount Fuji along the way!
Most rooms here feature a view of Mount Fuji framed in the window, making sunrise tea sessions or lazy morning lounging totally unforgettable. Select rooms add cozy touches like fireplaces and sofa sets.
Another thing we love about this hotel? Tattoos are okay in the public baths! If you’re not comfortable getting fully nakey in front of strangers, you can also reserve a private hour for uninterrupted soaking.
Fuji View Hotel
Fuji View Hotel isn’t kidding with its name—if you choose a mountain view room, you’ll wake up facing the big guy himself, whether you’re lounging in a cozy Western-style bed or chilling on tatami mats in a Japanese suite.
And that’s before you step outside. The hotel’s front? Pure Fuji panoramas. The massive onsite garden? A whopping 100,000m² of seasonal magic—cherry blossoms in spring, fiery red maples in fall, you name it. There’s even a 1.6 km lakeside path for those who want to enjoy a quick and scenic morning walk.
While you’re here, soak in steamy baths fed by Mt. Fuji’s own hot springs, either in the big communal pools or the open-air ones. Not a bath person? No stress—hit the tennis courts, try the short golf course (kids can join too!), or just park yourself at the Panorama Lounge. Those unobstructed views of Fuji from floor-to-ceiling windows? Chef’s kiss.
The hotel also offers a shuttle bus to/from Kawaguchiko Station, which is very convenient. Just be sure to arrive at the pickup location on time, as the shuttle nearly always arrives on time and leaves on time in true Japanese fashion.
Kaneyamaen
Kaneyamaen is the dream spot for families or big groups craving space and tradition—think deluxe rooms the size of apartments, with options for Western beds or Japanese futons.
Roam their postcard-perfect gardens, which shift with the seasons or soak in rooftop open-air baths with Mt. Fuji basically waving hello to you the whole time.
Start with matcha in the garden tearoom, then catch the fiery evening Reiho Taiko drum show, enjoy your kaiseki dinner, and finally cap the night with sake tasting under lit-up gardens at the lounge.
But the real flex? The VIP suite: a sprawling top floor complex with a private chef, open-air bath, and rooms for three generations. If you’re celebrating something special on your trip to Japan, this is the ultimate way to do it big—in total Japanese luxury.
Since this is a ryokan, breakfast and dinner are included with your base rate.
La Vista Fujikawaguchiko

La Vista Fujikawaguchiko blends modern comfort with front row views of Mount Fuji, just a short walk from Lake Kawaguchi.
The spacious rooms, designed with Spanish-colonial / European countryside elements, offer a unique escape that makes you momentarily forget you’re in Japan—a refreshing contrast to the stuffy, compact accommodations in bigger cities like Tokyo and Osaka.
You can unwind in the sauna, soak in the hot tub, or enjoy a buffet breakfast before exploring nearby attractions like Fuji-Q Highland. With a prime location near the Maple Corridor and an on-site restaurant, this 4-star resort is an excellent base for a peaceful getaway in the Fuji Five Lakes region.
Other Hotels With Fuji Views
Highland Resort Hotel & Spa – This hotel is located right next to Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park, so it’s perfect if you plan on spending some time at the theme park. With that said, it is a bit farther from other Kawaguchiko attractions. The hotel offers free shuttle bus services to make up for that. Rooms skew more on the modern / Western side.
Mizno Hotel – Located on top of a hill with the shore of Lake Kawaguchi just a 2-minute walk away. A shuttle bus service to and from Kawaguchiko Station is provided. Really great views of Mt. Fuji, but no children under 12!
