I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Regent Taipei, a hotel that I had chosen after doing endless hours of research for my 5-day trip to Taipei. And honestly, after my stay, I was really proud of my choice!
This hotel is a luxurious 5-star hotel located in the heart of the city in the Zhongshan district, offering guests an unforgettable experience and world-class service. Known for its exceptional service and amenities, this hotel has become one of the most popular places to stay in Taipei.
Some of the best things to love about it? Its central location, spacious rooms, and epic buffet options!
Long story short, I was thoroughly impressed with every aspect of the hotel. Zero regrets whatsoever. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the luxurious atmosphere and top-notch service!

Regent Taipei Review: A 5-Star Luxury Hotel In Taipei
There’s so much to love about this hotel! Let’s dive into some of my favorite aspects of Regent Taipei.
The Rooms
The rooms at the Regent Taipei are both simple and sophisticated. I stayed in a deluxe room, which was spacious and elegantly decorated with tasteful furnishings of dark wood. The bed was comfortable (though for some Westerners it may be considered on the harder side), and the plush pillows and high-quality linens just made my sleep that much better.
The room also featured a large flat-screen TV, a minibar, a coffee machine, and a well-stocked toiletries basket.
The bathroom was particularly impressive, with a deep soaking tub and a separate glass-enclosed shower. The shower was definitely a 5-star hotel shower!

The Restaurants
One of the standout features of the Regent Taipei is its fantastic dining options. The hotel has a number of restaurants, each offering a unique culinary experience.

Silks House is the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, and it serves up delicious Cantonese-style dishes in an elegant and sophisticated setting. The menu features a wide range of classic dishes, including roast suckling pig, Peking duck, and steamed lobster. The dim sum is particularly noteworthy, with a selection of dumplings and buns that are expertly crafted and full of flavor.
Robin’s Teppanyaki is a Japanese restaurant that offers a more casual dining experience. The restaurant is known for its teppanyaki grill, where chefs prepare a variety of meats and vegetables right in front of you. The grilled dishes are paired with a selection of traditional Japanese side dishes, including miso soup and pickled vegetables. The restaurant also has a sushi bar, where you can watch the chefs create beautifully presented rolls and sashimi.
Lan Ting is the hotel’s fine dining Chinese restaurant, and it’s the perfect place to go for a special occasion. The menu features a selection of refined Cantonese dishes, such as braised abalone and bird’s nest soup, as well as a range of dishes that are prepared tableside, like the traditional Chinese hot pot. The dim sum at Lan Ting is also worth writing home about!
But perhaps the most famous of the hotel’s dining establishments is the Azie Grand Cafe, which is known for its outstanding beef noodle soup. In fact, Regent Taipei has been a multiple-award winner at the Taipei Beef Noodle Festival over the years! This hearty dish is made with slow-braised beef and served in a rich, savory broth, and it’s absolutely delicious.

The Breakfast Buffet
And last but not least, the Regent Taipei also offers a fantastic buffet spread at Brasserie. The buffet is held in the hotel’s grand ballroom and features a wide variety of international cuisine, including Japanese, Korean, Japanese, and Western dishes. The buffet’s spread is incredibly large and the quality of the food is consistently high!
I had their breakfast buffet three mornings in a row and never got sick of any of the foods offered. The spread is so large that I was only really able to try half the things offered (even over three days)!
We’re talking about 6-8 different stations featuring all kinds of goodies ranging from Korean banchan-like sides, udon, made-to-order Taiwanese sticky rice rolls, Western-style offerings (eggs, hash browns, sausages), and a whole variety of pastries.
Honestly, this was by far the best breakfast buffet I’ve ever had on my travels!
In doing research on the best dinner buffets in Taipei, Regent Taipei came up multiple times for that search! Though I didn’t get to try the dinner buffet myself, based on what the breakfast tasted like, I already know it’s nothing but goodness.
Now while the breakfast does not usually come free with your stay, I was actually able to snag Diamond Elite status with IHG for a few months. With Diamond Elite status came free breakfast!
The Amenities
The amenities and the thoughtful touches offered at the Regent Taipei are top-notch. The hotel has a beautiful outdoor pool perfect for soaking in before or after a quick gym session.
The fitness center is well-equipped with a variety of cardio and weight-training machines, as well as a sauna and steam room. There’s also a full-service spa, offering a range of treatments from massages to facials.
The Ambiance
What a classy hotel inside and out! During my visit, Christmas time was just about starting, so the hotel was festively decorated with a large lit-up Christmas tree in the middle of the atrium near the restaurants.
The Regent Taipei is home to a number of high-end shops that offer a wide range of products and services and add to the overall ambiance. Here are a few of the shops you’ll find at the hotel:
- Regent Galleria: This shop is located in the hotel’s lobby and offers a selection of high-end fashion and accessories from a variety of designer brands such as Chanel, Hermes, BVLGARI, and Louis Vuitton. You’ll find everything from evening gowns to handbags and jewelry here.
- The Regent Delicatessen: This shop is located in the hotel’s restaurant area and offers a selection of gourmet food items, including chocolates, pastries, and specialty teas. It’s the perfect place to pick up a souvenir or a special treat for yourself.
- The Regent Gift Shop: Located in the hotel’s lobby, this shop offers a range of souvenirs and gifts, including traditional Chinese handicrafts, jewelry, and cosmetics.
The Unbeatable Service
But perhaps the standout feature of the Regent Taipei is the service. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible.
Because I was in Taipei during the week of my birthday, the staff sent a birthday cheesecake up to my room as a special welcome gift! Another welcome gift included a fancy set of dried mangoes. How thoughtful!
During my checkout, I received yet another birthday gift, which was basically a set of their Wellspring Spa-branded toiletries. So many sweet surprises came along with my stay!
Overall, I had an incredible stay at the Regent Taipei and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and comfortable hotel experience in Taipei.
Whether you’re in town for business or a few days of leisurely exploration, the Regent Taipei makes for a great home base.

Grand View Resort Beitou – luxurious hot springs hotel with private hot springs! Just 1-2 nights here will do, as it’s on the pricier side.

Taiwan Travel Insurance
This is a no-brainer. When traveling internationally, be sure to get yourself some travel insurance.
